In respect of the event at Tadley in the Autumn, Ron reported that he had spoken to the event organiser about the flying and the organisers were under the impression that the Basingstoke club would be running the flightline. The organisers seemed unaware of any specific requirements such as crowd segregation etc. The secretary reported that before suggesting that any member of the club be involved in flying at the event that we would need to be sure that it was being run in accordance with the BMFA guidelines. He agreed to contact the Basingstoke club and confirm to the committee by email.

The event ran well and the arrangements worked well. All those attending enjoyed the flying, food and generally relaxed atmosphere of the event. The location proved to be excellent for a flying display, both from the pilots viewpoint and for spectators.
Those from the club who attended honoured the 75th Anniversary of the club, though the number of club members who did attend was disappointing. It was recognised that there were other events on in the area on the same day.
The committee agreed that it had been a successful event and that the planning had worked well. A large amount of effort had been put in by the committee and a few others to make it all work smoothly. There were no incidents. After some discussion it was agreed that any future event should be run as a fly in to encourage more of the club members to attend and participate.
As a result of the event the club has fencing and barbecue tools which can be utilised for future events. After deducting income, the cost to the club was about seven hundred and sixty seven pounds, but the value of the fencing etc is around two hundred and seventy five pounds.
This will be held at the Dreadnought flying site for members and their families and flying will be restricted to our club members only. It was agreed that any member with an A cert would be able to fly, but that there would be no training on that day. The event would be during the normal flying hours. There could be some low key competitions held on the day.
It was agreed that a barbecue facility would be available between 12:00 and 14:00. The club would provide the charcoal, but members should bring their own food and drink as the club would not be making any available. It was agreed that there would be a £25 budget for the event. Jack Bishop agreed to make a barbecue available.

There was discussion about the provision of toilet facilities for the event. It was pointed out that the toilets at the canoe club are open to the public and therefore people could be pointed in that direction. This is a little distance away, but not unreasonably so. The provision of portaloos was considered. These may prove to be expensive to hire for the event and would have to be situated near the security office. After discussion, Dave Belcher agreed to enquire about cost and circulate via email for a decision to be made.
Action: Dave Belcher

Tony Roberts volunteered to run a vintage evening using the display that he put on at the 75th Anniversary event. It was agreed that this would be useful in the next tranche of events in the New Year.
The secretary raised the issue of A certificates for electric models. He confirmed that the Silent Flight electric A test was for electric powered gliders only. Sport electric models could be used for the fixed wing A cert, but they must be capable of taking off from the ground. He reported he had discussed this topic with the BMFA who had confirmed this position. It was therefore important that people coming forward for testing did so with a suitable model. The BMFA guidelines made clear that the test could be refused if the model was not capable of completing all the required components of the test. Obviously anyone attaining a silent flight A test would need further testing before being considered competent to fly solo I any sport model whether I/C or electric.
