LATEST NEWS
The Club and flying
field rules are to be revised as necessary and a sub-committee has been formed.
Any input please to Andy Stretton, Dave Belcher or Ron Perkins.
There is a need to
smarten up our procedures at the flying field. Flyers should use the pegboard
correctly and use a peg which has both their name and frequency on it. The peg
must be removed from the pegboard as soon as the flyer has finished the slot.
Each transmitter must carry an Orange flag which indicates, in numbers, the
frequency being used at that time.
NOTE.
Two inch wide Orange ribbon can be obtained from Flower and Party shops.
Sold in a variety of colours, it is used for tying flowers and lashing pretty
parcels together and costs ten pence per metre. Cut off eight inched and fold in
half. Leaving a two inch gap in the middle so it can be slipped over your aerial,
glue the two sides together with Copydex, etc, draw your (big) frequency numbers
on with felt pen and you have an easy to see Frequency Flag which will not break
the Bank.
Due to concern
regarding possible glitches in control at the site, John Soper, in conjunction
with the B.M.F.A. Radio Frequency Section, is to carry out a check during normal
flying sessions to establish the situation.
To suit instructors
requirements and availability, weekly training sessions during the summer will
now be held on Wednesday evenings, starting from the 4th May. Only
those actively training to achieve A certification, will be permitted to fly
beyond 20.00.
Tuesday evenings will
now revert to be a normal club flying evening.
£250
REWARD!
We continue to search
for a new flying field. Ron reports that over seventy five members have already
signed up for this year, so, the need is there and Ron has the money ready! All
members should be on the lookout and the brief details of any potential sites,
with the Landowners name, not the Tenant, should be passed to the committee.
Do not forget to
bring your “Club Card” with you to the Flying Field!
