Sunday 28th June 03 Enstone Fly In

Report by Ron Perkins

This year was probably the best event so far, there were 18 full size aircraft including a "Curry Wot" & a "Pietenpol Camper" flying around. Some would say that it was more restricted for the models but the opportunity to fly was there and most took it during the day.

Attractions this year included sky divers, and tethered balloon rides both new events and exciting for those who were adventurous. The double decker bus although seemingly on it's last legs provided all day entertainment for budding new Reading Bus Corporation drivers.

For those who have trouble persuading their wives to attend Steve has had constructed a new building containing a purpose made ladies room, very posh too. Remember this for next year.

The Enstone Cup was won by Bob Roper for the noisiest model, voting for this was by a voting slip given out with a programme of events, some thing else new this year.

I would like to mention and especially thank for their help Bob Roper the "Flight Director", Dave Grey "Aircraft Parking" manager, and of course every one who came along and made it such an enjoyable day. I am sorry to say I left my camera at home on the kitchen table I was so excited to get to Enstone, but I am sure that some of the members took loads of pictures (I'll be happy to publish any you have, please send to me at the normal address from the newsletter - SL).

I would like to say that feed back from all concerned was that the event was was run very safely this is not just from the modelers point of view but also from the full size pilots too.

Note from editor - Ron won't say this of course but we also need to thank him and Steve (no not me, the Steve who runs the strip at Enstone) for organising the day and for all their efforts in getting things set up. Nothing that good ever happens without a lot of effort, usually by a very small number of people.
